Kayachikitsa, the branch of Internal medicine in Ayurveda forms the clinical  foundation for understanding, diagnosing and managing diseases based on Ayurvedic principles. It stands as the heart of Ayurvedic clinical practice. Rooted in the classical principles of Nidana, Samprapti, Rupa, Upashaya and Chikitsa; the discipline emphasizes the understanding of disease not just as a set of symptoms but as a dynamic imbalance in the dosha-dhatu-mala system. It is the first chikitsaanga which deals with the general management principles of diseases.
